Shay & Shelby In Georgia

We met in August 2016 at a popular breakfast joint doing something we both enjoy, eating! That random morning, we ended up sharing a table with one another so that we could each be seated sooner; as the wait was desperately long. It turned out, we took interest in one another and decided to exchange numbers. Approximately 8 months after solely being friends, we decided to take our friendship to the next level. Two and a half years later, Shelby graced me with a beautiful secluded proposal. In February 2020, we sealed the deal!

Shelby is very gentle, kind, caring, loving and compassionate. His selfless consideration for others is demonstrated continually. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games and do-it-yourself (DIY) projects; as he is a "Jack of all trades". After college, Shelby was an Accountant at a bank who quickly transitioned to the construction industry where he is now a Technical Training Manager for a Heavy Lift Crane company.

Shay is very thoughtful, nurturing, caring and diligent. Her ambition in life constantly proves itself true. In her free time, she enjoys cooking delicious meals and planning family vacations. After college, Shay worked in Corporate America as a Hospitality and Marketing professional. She eventually transitioned into the education field where she serves as an Education Coordinator for a large metropolitan school district.

As a mechanic, Shelby recently transitioned to the role of Technical Training Manager for a crane rental company, He is responsible for training individuals (crane operators, assembly/disassembly technicians and mechanics) on how to troubleshoot and fix cranes. He prides himself on assisting colleagues in understanding the source of a problem to find a resolution, as opposed to just telling them what to fix.

Shay is a Technical and Agricultural Education Coordinator. She leads a team of dynamic individuals who provide K-12 students with daily opportunities that prepare them for life after graduating from high school. Leading a wealth of vocational teachers that instill industry specific skills such as nursing, culinary, criminal investigations, automotive and carpentry (to name a few), allows her to see the ah-ha connection moments in youth.

The most important feature of our home is that it is filled with love! With three levels, our home is just large enough to give everyone personal space, yet cozy enough that it creates a loving, nurturing and peaceful environment felt by anyone who enters our threshold. Currently, we are the only two individuals who reside in our home. Thankfully, we are surrounded by wonderful neighbors who treat one another like family always available when and if needed. We live in the heart of a large city, positioning us just a few short miles away from multiple youth recreation centers, walking/biking trails, historic sites, tourist attractions, theme parks, major league sporting arenas, a plethora of schools, malls, shopping plazas and so much more.

Our family members are dispersed throughout the United States. That gives us ample opportunities to travel regularly from coast-to-coast spending quality time with those we love. Our families exude a love which is pure and genuine and ready to be placed on a new member.

Both sides of Shay's family are large and family gatherings require a great wealth of planning. Our extended family takes semi-annual vacations to various all-inclusive resorts, cruises and major cities throughout the US to encourage continual family reunion vibes while living across various distances.

Shelby's side of the family is much smaller. Despite the size, family gatherings are quite a time. During the summer months, we typically spend our weekends and holidays at the family lake house. While there, extended family members enjoy daily boat rides, wake boarding, water-tubing, fishing, late night firework shows on the lake, cornhole tournaments, community potlucks, grilling, board games and good fellowship.

In our leisure time, we enjoy spending quality time with one another, family and friends. Some of our favorite leisure activities include domestic and international trips, 2000-piece puzzles, riding bikes, date nights, attending professional sporting events and exceptional restaurant experiences. As for hobbies, Shelby is an adrenaline junky. He enjoys a good challenge. A few of his favorite hobbies include scuba diving, snowboarding, playing musical instruments, riding motorcycles, golfing, playing video games, do-it-yourself projects and anything else that requires maintenance or repairs. On the other hand, Shay enjoys calming hobbies that include cooking, decorating, researching and planning family vacations, exercising and coloring.

After many failed attempts to have our own bundle of joy, we finally realized that it didn’t matter if that bundle was grown in my belly or in our hearts, it would still be our bundle of joy.
