Dear Birthmother,

We are Bec and Kat and before anything else we want to thank you for considering making an adoption plan with us. We acknowledge, respect and empathize with the decision you are making and want you to know that we will support you in any way you need us too.

Our desire to adopt comes from wanting to give a child/children a life full of fun and adventure, unconditional love, emotional and financial support, a safe and stable home, broad education and a limitless future.

About Us

We are a happily married couple, both originally from the United Kingdom, but we are now permanent residents of USA. We plan to get our US citizenship in 3 years when we become eligible. We met in Brooklyn, NY where we were both volunteering for the same sporting organization and immediately became best friends. Our friendship inevitably led to romance and we have been happily in love ever since.

In 2018, Bec permanently moved to the USA where we lived in New Jersey near the shore. Kat works as a finance director for an energy company where she and Bec are both heavily involved in their LGBTQ+ and other inclusivity groups. Bec is a physical education teacher, primarily working in middle and high schools, but has also worked as a sports coach for children aged two through adult for over 15 years.

We both come from large families and are excited for our future children to grow up in a close family surrounded by people who love and cherish them as much as we will. We have a very active and adventurous life, spending a lot of time in nature hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking and exploring different countries, towns and cities. We love to expose ourselves to new cultures, traditions and foods. We love to constantly learn and grow as people, and are keen members of sports teams, going to live sporting and music events, visiting museums, art galleries and botanical gardens.

Our Home

We live in Sienna, which is a suburb of Houston, Texas. Sienna is home to a highly rated school system and has several resident recreation facilities including pools, parks and sports facilities.

Sienna is part of Fort Bend County, which is one of the most diverse counties in the US. Everyone is welcome here irrespective of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. It’s an area where differences are embraced. This was important to us when we chose the location of the home we would grow our family in. We believe in acceptance and broad social integration and are excited to be part of such a vibrant community.

Our home has four bedrooms, two studies and a large open plan family space. We are lucky enough to have a good-sized yard with a pool, lawn area and outside kitchen. Our house backs onto open space with trees and a river. The master suite is large with an adjacent nursery for use while baby is young, then when baby is old enough they will have their own bedroom. Two of the bedrooms share a Jack & Jill bathroom, which we are sure our future children will love.

Our Extended Family

We both come from large, close families. Kat has three sisters and Bec has a younger brother. Bec comes from a close sporting family, where everyone has represented the United Kingdom in their chosen sport. Now that we live in the USA, we have weekly, sometimes daily catch-ups on FaceTime and Houseparty, so that we are still very present in each other's lives. We do virtual quizzes, movie viewings and birthday parties. We frequently fly back to the UK where we spend our time visiting friends and family.

Our families also spend a lot of time in the USA with us, allowing us to travel together and introduce them to the new traditions and customs we are building here. We are looking forward to them coming out once we become parents to meet the new addition/s to our family.

Our Family Traditions

We have a ‘fact off’ tradition with our younger nieces where we must provide the best fact or riddle. Bec’s parents host Christmas Day and then Kat’s parent’s always host Boxing Day (26th December) which is another big family holiday in the UK. There will often be over 20 people gathered together on these days, which are loud and raucous and everything a family day should be. Our parents spend time together as a foursome which helps solidify and strengthen familial bonds and ties.

Within Kat’s family, a couple of her cousins with their partners have also adopted children, and we are close to them, even more so now we have this additional bond in common and they are a great source of support and understanding for us during this process. We are excited to be able to give our future child / children a life full of broad and global experiences, traditions and upbringings.

What Led Us To Adoption

Wanting to become parents and expand our family and give a child/ren a loving,
happy life led us to adoption. We want to share the world and all its wonderful, diverse experiences and opportunities whilst providing a stable, loving and fun environment for a child/ren to grow in.
