We are a happily married couple, both originally from the United Kingdom. We are now permanent residents of USA and are planning on getting our US citizenship in 2 years when we become eligible. We met in Brooklyn, NY where we were both volunteering for the same sporting organization and immediately became best friends. Our friendship inevitably led to romance, and we have been happily in love ever since.
In 2018, Bec moved to the USA permanently where we lived in New Jersey near the shore. Kat is the finance Vice President for an energy company where she and Bec are both heavily involved in their LGBTQ+ and other inclusivity groups. Bec is a physical education teacher, primarily working in middle and high schools but has also worked as a sports coach for children aged two through to adults for over 15 years.
In late 2021, we matched with our first birth mother who selflessly chose us to become parents to our son, Noah. Noah was born in early 2022 and since then has done nothing but made every aspect of our lives better.
We both come from large families and are excited and proud for our future children to grow up in an already very close and happy family surrounded by people who love and cherish them as much as we will.
We have a very active and adventurous life, spending a lot of time in nature hiking, biking, surfing, kayaking and exploring different countries, towns and cities. We love to expose ourselves to new cultures, traditions and foods; we believe in accepting everyone as they are. Neither of us take life too seriously and love to enjoy the simple things in life whilst laughing and enjoying every experience. We love to constantly learn and grow as people, and are keen members of sports teams, going to live sporting and music events, visiting museums, art galleries and botanical gardens.
We have discussed at length the morals and values we want to pass on to our children. First and foremost, we are a team that always have each other’s backs and are honest and open in our communication with each other. Kindness, compassion, honesty and finding the fun in everyday life are key to our family culture. Volunteering within our community and giving back to people less fortunate than us is extremely important to us and we will encourage our future children to be understanding and accommodating, kind and empathetic.
