Robson’s Story:

I was born in Brazil but spent most of my life in the United States. My immediate family resides in the USA, and we regularly visit with my parents who live down the street from us. My journey took me through several states including North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and Washington. Texas was basically where I grew up, having gone to both high school and college there. I eventually moved to Oklahoma for work and that’s where I met Jennifer. More recently we moved to Washington to get away from the hot weather, to enjoy more nature and be closer to my parents.

I strive for balance in my hobbies. I enjoy a good variety of physical activity such as hiking, paddle boarding and weight training. On the other hand, I also love curling up on the couch with a good book, playing board games or painting.

Jennifer's Story:

I was born in South Korea but have lived the majority of my life in the USA. I was raised by my grandmother in Springdale, Arkansas. Music has always been a cornerstone of my life. I was active in band and choir, along with other after-school programs like B.E.S.T. Robotics. I graduated with honors from Springdale Senior High School in 2006 and attended Northwest Arkansas Community College for a year before transferring to the University of Tulsa. There I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance in 2011.

In my free time, I love reading, playing the piano, taking nature walks, cuddling with our dog by the fireplace and enjoying Seattle's cultural scene, especially the opera. I'm a foodie who loves exploring different cuisines.

Our Story Together:

We met online in 2011 while both living in Oklahoma. After a few years of dating, we fell deeply in love and got married in 2015. We bought our first house and started making it a home. When the pandemic hit in 2020, it inspired us to move closer to family and make the most of our time together.

It ended up driving us to relocate to Washington State. This move not only brought us closer to Robson’s parents but also allowed us to escape the hot weather and tornadoes of Oklahoma and embrace the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

Our Pets:

We currently have a small terrier named Sam, he’s getting up there in years but still has the energy of a puppy.

Our Home

We live in a wonderful, small neighborhood in Lake Stevens, WA, that has about 33 houses. It's a peaceful area, yet close enough to Seattle to enjoy cultural amenities like musicals and orchestras. Our neighborhood is vibrant and community-oriented, with children often playing outside and neighbors hosting cookouts and holiday celebrations.

Our home is near the end of a nice, quiet road which provides a safe play area for children. Though our yard isn't huge, we’re close to several parks, including a dog park and a skate park. Our house has plenty of room to grow, and we are excited for the chance to fill it with memories.

Our Extended Family

While we don't have a lot of traditional family nearby, we are blessed with a tightly knit group of friends who are like family to us. These cherished friends have become an integral part of our lives, providing love, support, and a sense of community that enriches our day-to-day experiences.

We regularly gather with our friends to celebrate holidays, share meals and enjoy each other's company. Jennifer has weekly girls' nights, rotating visits to each other’s homes and creating deep bonds and lasting memories. Our friends' children are also a significant part of our lives, and we love spending time with them, playing games and watching them grow.

Living close to Robson's parents is another blessing, as they are eager to be involved grandparents and are in good health. Our close proximity to them ensures that our child will have a strong family presence in their life.

We also regularly travel to go visit more distant friends and family throughout the US and even, when time permits, down to Brazil to see Robson’s extended family.

We believe that family is not just defined by blood but by the love and connections we build with those around us. Our child will grow up surrounded by a warm, caring community that will always be there to support and celebrate them.

Our Family Traditions

As a Korean-Brazilian American family, we celebrate a variety of holidays from all three cultures. Christmas and Halloween are our favorites. On Christmas Eve, we open presents, feast with Robson's parents, and stay up late. Halloween is all about haunted houses, costumes and handing out candy.

What Led Us To Adoption

Our hearts are full of love and compassion for children, and we are confident in our ability to provide a loving, stable environment for our adopted child. Spending time with our nieces, nephews and cousins has shown us how much our family is incomplete without children.
