Home Study Resource

All prospective adoptive parents must become licensed to adopt. This is what is known as a home study. Everlasting Adoptions does NOT conduct the home study, but we will give you referrals for sources/agencies in your state that can provide a home study for you. This would be an independent, licensed social worker or a licensed, child placing agency. You will call them to ask them for their pricing and their process and then hire whomever you feel comfortable with. This process takes approximately 6 to 8 weeks. A social worker that is assigned to you will come into your home and interview you.

You will have to meet certain requirements, which usually are:

    • Seeing your home to make sure you have enough space to raise a child.
    • Proving financial stability by: W2 forms, last years income tax return, check stubs, bank accounts, etc.
    • Proving good health by taking a complete physical.
    • Conducting a complete criminal background check (FBI level – in all 50 states) by having your fingerprints taken to show that you have not committed a major felony in any state of the U.S. If all of these requirements are met, then you will receive a written report stating that you are Home Study approved and ready to adopt legally.
    • If all of these requirements are met, then you will receive a written report stating that you are Home Study approved and ready to adopt legally.
