HOPING TO
ADOPT?
WE CAN HELP

IF YOU’RE HOPING TO ADOPT, WE’RE HERE TO HELP YOU.
WE ARE COMMITTED TO BUILDING FAMILIES THROUGH THE MIRACLE OF ADOPTION. WE SPECIALIZE, NATIONWIDE, IN DOMESTIC INFANT ADOPTIONS. OUR REPUTATION AND EXPERIENCE IS WHAT BRINGS PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE PARENTS TO US. NO ONE IS A NUMBER AT EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS. EACH WAITING FAMILY IS TREATED AS IF YOU ARE OUR ONLY FAMILY. WITH OUR CARING STAFF, WE KNOW PERSONALLY THE MIRACLE OF ADOPTION!

THE ADOPTION PROCESS

STEP
1
Adoption is a lifelong decision. Take some time to learn about the adoption process. Learning the details of the adoption process is crucial to becoming adoptive parents. Do your research on infant adoption and decide what will work best for you.
STEP
2
Contact Everlasting Adoptions to start your adoption journey. Call/text us 1-630-364-8361 or request an information packet to learn about our mission and how we build families through the miracle of adoption. To begin the adoption process with us, complete a free application or schedule a phone consultation.
STEP
3

As part of our marketing efforts, we work with you to design a custom adoption profile and adoption video. Your adoption profile/video paint a picture of your home, family, relationship and hobbies, and allows you to express your excitement about growing your family through adoption.

STEP
4

We will educate you on communicating with potential birthmothers. Communication between expectant mother and adoptive parents is determined by the expectant mother’s adoption plan. An in-person meeting may take place down the road, if both parties agree. We are always there to offer support and guidance while you are building your relationship with an expectant mother.

STEP
5

We will provide you with attorney referrals. It will be necessary to hire an attorney in the expectant mother’s state. If either party changes their mind and does not go forward with the adoption, Everlasting Adoptions will continue to market you until the end of your contractual period.

STEP
6
Every situation is unique and reflects the agreed upon wishes of the expectant mother and adoptive parents. Once the baby is born, the legal requirements to finalize the adoption vary state by state.

TYPES OF ADOPTION

OPEN ADOPTION

In an open adoption, the expectant family and the adoptive parents often stay in direct contact with one another after placement. This can include phone calls, texts, emails and face-to-face visits. The level of openness is agreed upon between the expectant family and the adoptive parents as you get to know one another and develop a relationship.

SEMI-OPEN ADOPTION

In a semi-open adoption, the adoptive parents send the expectant family regular updates and pictures by texts, emails, phone calls, Facetime/Zoom, or any form of modern technology. It does not involve face-to-face visits. Sometimes the adoptive parents and expectant family will choose to have a third party serve as the source of contact. The frequency of updates and how they will be communicated is agreed upon by the expectant family and the adoptive parents.

CLOSED ADOPTION

If the expectant family decides they do not want to have any contact with the adoptive family after the birth of the baby, this is called a closed adoption. In this case, you can still have us help you with the selection of the adoptive parents.
HOME STUDY RESOURCE

ALL PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE PARENTS MUST BECOME LICENSED TO ADOPT. THIS IS WHAT IS KNOWN AS A HOME STUDY. EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS DOES NOT CONDUCT THE HOME STUDY, BUT WE WILL GIVE YOU REFERRALS FOR SOURCES/AGENCIES IN YOUR STATE THAT CAN PROVIDE A HOME STUDY FOR YOU. THIS WOULD BE AN INDEPENDENT, LICENSED SOCIAL WORKER OR A LICENSED, CHILD PLACING AGENCY. YOU WILL CALL THEM TO ASK THEM FOR THEIR PRICING AND THEIR PROCESS AND THEN HIRE WHOMEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE WITH. THIS PROCESS TAKES APPROXIMATELY 6 TO 8 WEEKS. A SOCIAL WORKER THAT IS ASSIGNED TO YOU WILL COME INTO YOUR HOME AND INTERVIEW YOU.

YOU WILL HAVE TO MEET CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS,
INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW DOES EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS HELP US?

The service is very easy. Our service consists of a fee to the adoptive families who are interested in adopting. The fee is based on two full years of advertising, answering expectant mother phone calls 24-hours a day, help in designing a personal profile, and presentation of the profile to expectant parents until the families are connected in a successful adoption. This is an advertising & marketing fee, where prospective expectant mothers have 24-hour access to our toll-free telephone lines to assist them.

We feel we have put together a program that works for both the expectant mothers and the adoptive parents. We have combined the hands-on approach to adoption that our expectant mothers desire; and for our adoptive parents, the security of an agency adoption.

All of our adoptions are assisted by a licensed agency. We will direct you to the agency we work with if you do not have a home study. Once you are connected with a expectant mother, a social worker from an agency in her state will be assigned to your expectant mother.

We will provide you with questions to ask the expectant mother and what “red flags” to watch for. We allow the adoptive parents the option to decline a expectant mother situation at any time, within the two-year period. Being a medium-sized office, we are able to spend more time working on coordinating a custom adoption plan to fit your needs, both personally and financially. We are here to help, guide, and direct you along the way to finding your expectant mother.

The expectant mother is presented with resumes from our contracted families. She then makes a decision on the adoptive family from those resumes. The family would then speak with the expectant mother and meet in person, if possible. If the adoption plan goes awry, due to perhaps the expectant mother changing her mind or health problems with the child, we will continue our advertising efforts for the balance of the contract at no additional charge. We will direct you to a successful, safe adoption!

FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE FILL OUT OUR HOPING TO ADOPT INFO REQUEST FORM OR GIVE US A CALL AT 630-886-8075.

HOW LONG IS THE CONTRACT VALID?

The duration of this agreement is two (2) years from the date of the Marketing & Advertising Contract, or at such earlier time that we are instructed by you, in writing, that you are no longer in need of our services.

WHAT IS THE COST INVOLVED?

We charge a fee for services provided which is due with the signed Marketing & Advertising Contract.

PLEASE CALL 630-886-8075 FOR FREE INFORMATION OR EMAIL nancy@everlastingadoptions.com.

Effective 1/1/2024, the Adoption Tax Credit is $16,810. Most of Everlasting Adoptions’ families are able to benefit from this tax credit, which significantly reduces the cost of adoption.

Please note, you are not paying a “finder’s fee”. The majority of our fees represent the following:

The entire advertising process will ultimately depend upon where the adoptive parents and the expectant mother are located. The majority of the expectant mothers have some form of medical insurance. Usually Public Aid pays for most medical/hospital bills. We will provide referrals to local, state, and federal programs to help assist in financial support. Some states allow the adoptive family to support the expectant mother through the later months of her pregnancy with ‘pregnancy related’ expenses. These expenses can include rent, food, utilities, medical needs, counseling and maternity clothing. Attorney’s fees and agency fees are separate since they depend on the complexity of your adoption and your state laws. If you do not have an adoption attorney, please let us know and we can refer you to local adoption attorneys.

WHERE DO THE EXPECTANT MOTHERS COME FROM?

Many of our contacts come from the Internet, personal referrals, hospitals, churches, physicians, crisis centers, newspaper ads, schools, yellow pages, and attorneys. We network with associated professionals and by word-of-mouth.

WHAT KIND OF CONTACT WOULD WE HAVE WITH THE EXPECTANT MOTHER?

An adoption can mean many things. The majority of the adoptions that we are involved in are considered semi open. This means that the expectant mother has had an opportunity to speak with you and possibly may have had an opportunity to meet with you before the baby is born. Most expectant mothers will request letters and pictures after the baby is born. We encourage that the adoptive family be in the delivery room if all parties are in agreement, since this is, after all, a once in a lifetime moment! However, there are times when a expectant mother will request a closed adoption and we will respect her wishes.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ADOPT THROUGH EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS?

Our ‘connection’ times range from anywhere between 2 months to 24 months. There are some obvious decisions that could make your connection time much shorter. If you are open to race, gender, expenses, and birth location, your adoption process could move quicker.

IS THERE A FEE TO APPLY TO EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS?

There is no fee for you to fill out our application. You can fill out an application on our website, or you can request a packet to be sent to you.

DO WE NEED A HOME STUDY BEFORE WE CONTRACT WITH EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS?

Although you will need a home study to complete your adoption, you will not need one before you contract with us. You can work on your home study while Everlasting Adoptions is searching for your expectant mother.

WHO CAN ADOPT THROUGH EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS?

Everlasting Adoptions prides itself on having fewer restrictions than most adoption agencies. Beyond our age requirement of 25 years old, we have no religious belief requirement, and families with biological children are welcome to apply. The choice of adoptive families is made by the expectant mother; so our families with children do as well as our families without children. We also work with couples who are working with another adoption agency/professional and have not had any luck yet. Please remember we review all applications to determine if we are able to help you.

HOW DO WE GET ACCEPTED INTO EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS DOMESTIC INFANT PROGRAM?

You may start by filling out our online application. All couples must have at least a phone meeting. There is no fee for this meeting.

ARE ALL FAMILIES SUCCESSFUL IN ADOPTING?

Almost all of our families that have joined Everlasting Adoptions have been successful in adopting. We work very hard daily to make sure that every couple follows our program and has a successful adoption! We have great success in placing many of our families within a 2 year period.

COMMUNICATING WITH THE EXPECTANT MOTHER
FOR PROSPECTIVE ADOPTIVE PARENTS HOPING TO MEET A EXPECTANT MOTHER, FEW SITUATIONS ARE MORE ANXIETY-INDUCING THAN THEIR FIRST ENCOUNTER. WHETHER YOU PLAN TO MEET IN PERSON OR OVER THE PHONE, KNOWING AHEAD OF TIME WHAT QUESTIONS TO ASK – AND NOT ASK – CAN REDUCE YOUR ANXIETY AND HELP YOU MAKE THE MOST OF THIS OPPORTUNITY TO OBTAIN INFORMATION.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER ASKING
LGBTQ+ ADOPTIONS

TODAY’S ADOPTIVE FAMILIES INCREASINGLY LOOK LIKE AMERICA. LGBTQ+ FOLX ARE PARENTING THEIR BIOLOGICAL AND ADOPTIVE CHILDREN ALONGSIDE THE CIS HET SINGLES AND COUPLES IN THEIR COMMUNITIES AT UNPRECEDENTED RATES. ALTHOUGH MARGINALIZATION MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO GET AN EXACT COUNT, IT’S ESTIMATED THAT BETWEEN 6 AND 13 MILLION CHILDREN HAVE AN LGBTQ+ PARENT.

ADOPTION IS A WONDERFUL PATH FOR LGBTQ+ FOLX TO FULFILL THEIR DESTINY AS PARENTS OR TO GROW THEIR EXISTING FAMILIES. AND EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS IS READY TO HELP YOU ON YOUR PARENTHOOD JOURNEY.

THE LEGAL LANDSCAPE

In most states, sexual orientation and gender identity are no longer barriers for singles and couples eager to provide loving homes for children. In all 50 states, LGBTQ+ parents can petition for joint adoption, and seven states (CA, NV, NY, MA, RI, NJ, MD) prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation. California, Rhode Island, and New Jersey also outlaw discrimination in adoption based on gender identity.

That doesn’t mean that the landscape isn’t without ugliness. Ten states (ND, SD, KS, OK, TX, MI, MS, AL, SC, VA) allow child welfare agencies to refuse services to children and families if there’s a conflict with their religious beliefs. However, Everlasting Adoptions is committed to helping you find the resources to navigate state restrictions and will work tirelessly on your behalf to assist you in creating the family you deserve.

THE ADOPTION PROCESS

The adoption process for LGBTQ+ folx is identical to the process for cis het parents. Everlasting Adoptions takes a hands-on approach that creates the connection that expectant mothers crave and the security of an agency adoption that our families require.

With our help, expectant mothers develop a deep understanding of the love and lives that LGBTQ+ folx offer. We know that LGBTQ+ parents often live with the complexities of multiple marginalizations, and that this lived experience can create unique opportunities for welcoming children into your lives.

We start by designing your personal profile and then provide your resume to the expectant mother. Once you have been selected, we facilitate an in-person meeting between you and the expectant mother. We then guide you to a Quad A Adoption Attorney or a licensed agency, whichever the laws in the expectant mother’s state, require. There are only a few states that will require you to hire a licensed agency in lieu of an attorney. They will then take over the legal process from that point all the way to the completion of parental relinquishments. In our experience, LGBTQ+ folx make connections with expectant mothers at the same rate as cis het singles and couples, and often times, faster.

TAKE THE NEXT STEP IN CREATING YOUR FAMILY

If you’re considering adoption and are part of the LGBTQ+ community, Everlasting Adoptions is ready to help. Let us assist you in creating the family you desire.

Take the first step by completing our free, no-obligation application at the top of this page OR give us a call at 630-886-8075.

STATE-BY-STATE ADOPTION LAWS

ADOPTION IS, FOR THE MOST PART, CONTROLLED BY STATE LAW, AND THESE LAWS VARY CONSIDERABLY FROM STATE TO STATE. BEFORE PURSUING AN ADOPTION, YOU’LL WANT TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR STATE’S POLICIES REGARDING ADVERTISING FOR EXPECTANT PARENTS, EXPECTANT MOTHER EXPENSES, CONSENTS TO ADOPTION, ADOPTION SUBSIDIES, AND MORE. IF YOU WILL BE ADOPTING A CHILD BORN IN A DIFFERENT STATE, YOU MAY NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOTH STATES’ LAWS. WHEN YOU’RE READY TO BEGIN THE ADOPTION PROCESS, BE SURE TO HIRE AN ADOPTION ATTORNEY AND/OR AN ADOPTION AGENCY WHO IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT YOUR STATE’S ADOPTION LAWS.

ADOPTION TAX CREDIT INFO
HOW MUCH IS THE ADOPTION TAX CREDIT FOR, AND WHO QUALIFIES?

‘Adoptive parents with a modified adjusted gross income under $223,410 can claim the full credit of $16,810, provided they spend at least that amount of money on their adoption expenses and owe taxes. Those with incomes up to $263,410 can claim partial credit that is prorated. Those with incomes above $263,410 do not qualify for the credit. While most adoptive parents find that they still have to pay substantial sums of money during the adoption process, the credit should relieve some of the financial burden. To document that you qualify for the tax credit, keep receipts for all legitimate adoption expenses, including attorney fees, agency fees, consultation fees and legitimate expectant parent expenses.

WHAT SHOULD I DO TO DOCUMENT THAT I QUALIFY FOR THIS TAX CREDIT?

It is important that adoptive parents get and keep receipts for all legitimate adoption expenses. If it is a domestic, non-special needs adoption, the credit is taken in the year after the expenses are pad. There is normally a one year lag rule. Legitimate adoption expenses would include, but are not limited to: Everlasting Adoptions’ fee, attorney fees, agency fees, consultation fees, and legitimate expectant parent expenses.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CREDIT AND A DEDUCTION?

A credit is an amount that can be deducted directly from the taxes that you owe. It means you can get reimbursed dollar for dollar, unlike a deduction, provided you qualify for the credit.

WHAT IF THE ADOPTION NEVER FINALIZES?

Adoptive parents can take the credit even if the adoption does not finalize in a domestic adoption.

IS THE ADOPTION TAX CREDIT THE SAME AS THE CHILD TAX CREDIT?

No. This credit is separate and in addition to the child tax credit.

QUALIFYING EXPENSES

Qualifying adoption expenses are reasonable and necessary adoption fees, court costs, attorney fees, traveling expenses (including amounts spent for meals and lodging) while away from home, and other expenses directly related to, and whose principal purpose is for, the legal adoption of an eligible child.

NON-QUALIFYING EXPENSES

Qualifying adoption expenses do not include expenses:

PLEASE REMEMBER TO CONTACT YOUR TAX SPECIALIST TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR THE ADOPTION TAX CREDIT. IRS TAX CREDIT INFORMATION:
THE ADOPTION TAX CREDIT IS $13,400. MOST OF EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS’ FAMILIES ARE ABLE TO BENEFIT FROM THIS TAX CREDIT, WHICH COVERS EVERLASTING ADOPTIONS’ FEE AND THE HOME STUDY FEE
