Dear Birthmother,

At this point you may have read several wonderful stories about other adoptive parents thanking you for reading their amazing stories. At this time I would like to state three things: the first is that this is probably the most difficult decision you have ever had to make. The child you carry has been a part of you since you knew you were pregnant and finding the perfect family for your child is not easy. There is no perfect family, and me being a single mom makes me not part of the norm, but one thing I can tell you is that I have a lot of love to give and I cannot wait to be a mom.

The second thing I would like to tell you is that I will try my hardest to be the best mom I can possibly be. I will love and care for this baby in ways one cannot measure.

The third thing I would like to tell you is thank you. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. Thank you for giving me a chance. Thank you for taking care of yourself and baby. Thank you for being you. There are so many different reasons why you deserve hundreds of thank you’s for all you have done. No words can describe the feelings of gratitude and respect I have for you for making this difficult decision. Being a mom will forever be the best part of my life and the most rewarding journey that will last a lifetime. Thank you for giving me the best gift I could possibly remember. Thank you!

About Me

When I was little I grew up with a single parent, three sisters and one brother who was born with down syndrome. As a child, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents whom I considered like my second set of parents. I loved spending time with them watching old movies, eating lunch with them and playing cards. We moved during middle school, but I quickly made friends, many of whom I still remain in contact with.

We moved back near family when I was in high school. During this time, my first niece was born and after school I would pick her up from day care and take care of her until my sister or brother-in-law came home from work. It was my first experience with babies and I loved every single moment of it. I graduated with a double degree in Architecture and in Real Estate Finance and Development. I currently work for the family business and have the flexibility to work from home and set my own schedule the majority of the time. I have 10 nieces and nephews whom I have watched grow up and have loved to see their different personalities develop.

My Home

I currently live in an apartment and do plan on owning a home in the future. I spend most of my weekends at my mom's house where she has a large yard,  playground with a slide and swings, and a full size basketball court. The back yard has bike trails where my nieces and nephews enjoy riding their bikes. My mom also has a fenced in pool with a water slide. The children love spending their days by the pool!

My community is very diverse and extremely family friendly. There are two very large parks located about 5 minutes from my home where they have beautiful paved trails, BBQ and picnic areas, playgrounds, basketball courts and open fields. My city offers a great variety of museums and we have an excellent children's museum about 20 minutes from my home. Downtown is full of historic buildings and millions of tourists come to town to visit what downtown has to offer. We have several theme parks like Sea World, Six Flags and a zoo. I also live in the best public school district in the city.

My Extended Family

Family is the most important aspect of my life. I am extremely close to my family. Being an aunt to 10 nieces and nephews and having a brother with Down Syndrome, has taught me so much. They have taught me about being humble, to laugh at the little things and appreciate the time we have together. I've learned to be loving, understanding and patient. When my brother was born, I never even noticed he was "different". We were very close and he taught me how to take baby steps instead of expecting leaps, to be understanding instead of being frustrated, and to focus on all the blessings in my life.

I have taken my eldest nieces and nephews camping in the back yard, where they have a blast! We get our sleeping bags, pillows and blankets. We pack a picnic basket and pretend we are in a forest, enjoy looking at the stars and make sure we are up before the sprinklers turn on. We enjoy going to my mom's house to go swimming and BBQ. Being able to spend time with them make the weekends the best days of the week.

My Family Traditions

We spend every birthday, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years together. I enjoy traveling with my family to Disney World, Colorado to ski, Puerto Vallarta to the beach, among other places. I have so much fun traveling because we take about 3-4 full rows of seats on the plane. We create so many happy memories together during our family trips.

The holidays are also a very special time. At Christmas, we all gather at my mom's house where the children are playing outside on the playground, running in the yard, playing basketball on the court, and riding their bikes. Everyone pitches in cooking and helping to decorate the table. It is a joyful day where we play games while the turkey is cooking, enjoy a long meal full of laughter, open presents and take time to be grateful for our family and our blessings.

What Led Me To Adoption

Dreaming of being a mom is what led me to adopt. I love children and have always wanted to adopt since I was young. I knew it was part of my journey to adopt. Perhaps one day I will have biological children and experience pregnancy, but for now I am completely determined to start my family through adoption.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
