Dear Birthmother,

Hi, we are Cole and Stephanie. We have known each other since high school and reconnected at our 10 year reunion. Since then we have been part of each other's lives and grown as a couple, from dating to engaged to married and now, excited to become parents. Know that your child will be brought into a home filled with love and support that extends far beyond the walls of our home to both our large extended families. They wholeheartedly support us in this next stage of our lives.
In preparation to adding a little one to our family, we have spent the last few years working hard on our home to make it ours. When we are not working on the house, we are enjoying hobbies like Cole and his motorcycle or Stephanie with her baking and cooking. Together we love taking weekend getaways to Cannon Beach. We are excited to make it a tradition to all pack up with our rain boots and head to the beach to play in the sand. There are so many ways for people's paths to cross and we recognize that this is a very difficult decision for anyone to make. We look forward to getting to know you, understanding what goals and dreams you have for your child and see if we are the perfect fit to help make those come true. We truly appreciate that you are taking the time to get to know us.

About Us

It is funny how similar our upbringings were. We were both born and raised in Washington state. Our parents were married within a month of each other and we were born within 6 months of each other. Our mothers even worked at the same eye clinic while we were children. We reconnected at our 10 year high school reunion where we laughed and called our mothers to talk about who we were sitting next to and how small the world is.  We have now been together for almost seven years and married nearly four.
Cole is a very hard worker. If he is not working on our house, he is either helping someone with their home repairs or working in the garage on his motorcycle, jeep or learning to weld. He has a very close relationship with his father who shares a lot of the same interests. It is fun watching them work through problems together. Stephanie really likes working with people to help them find what they are passionate about and helping them meet their goals. Her group of friends have always called her "mom" because she likes to take care of others and do things to make them feel loved. She takes the time to do special things for their kids, like hiding eggs for them the night before Easter and making them Halloween totes.

Our Home

Our home is in great neighborhood with lots of kids and fun activities hosted by the home owners every year. Some of those events include an Easter Egg Hunt with prizes, the local Fire Department brings Santa for Christmas with hot cocoa and cookies for the kids and a National Night Out with a large BBQ. We also have several common areas for people to play, a bike path and a single entry / exit to get into the neighborhood, so its very safe.

We have lived in our house for 7 years and have been working very hard on updating it room by room making it our own. In preparation for a little one, we are prepping two rooms in our house that are connected. One of the rooms will be the nursery and the connected room will be the playroom. We have completely redone the backyard; leveled it, brought in new soil and sod and had it fully fenced. All it needs now is a little one to run around and enjoy it to the fullest!

Our Extended Family

Cole has a very close relationship with his father. They share many of the same interests and it is fun to watch them work together. He is also very close to his Grandpa Max, who is the nicest guy, full of stories and funny one-liners and has never eaten a meal he didn't appreciate. Cole and Max are two peas in a pod when it comes to work ethic, sense of humor and their love for food. He welcomed Stephanie into the family and instantly made her feel like part of the gang.
Stephanie has always been really close to her great uncle Bob, or Unca Bob as we call him. He is never hard to find at a family event, as he is always in the center of the crowd telling stories of the family history. His eyes light up when he talks and his hands move all over as he explains in great detail each event. The way he describes things you truly feel like you were standing next to him in each story. He is a very smart and creative man and has the ability to break things down to teach you how they work. He can get you excited about all the things around you. Stephanie and Unca Bob share a love of photography, making people laugh and telling stories.

Our Family Traditions

Traditions are something we look the most forward to sharing with our little one. Both sides of our families do large Christmas get togethers. Santa even comes to Stephanie's side of the family party each year with gifts for the kids from the North Pole. Another fun tradition that Cole has with his father is their annual Father’s Day ride to the coast. They take a few days and ride all over together on their motorcycles until Sunday morning when they go to the same oyster farm and get several dozen for a big family oyster fest back home. Stephanie's parents host a huge 4th of July party on the lake with a boat parade and a firework show over the water. We eat lunch and dinner together and sit around a bonfire making smores at night waiting for the show. While each side has special traditions scattered throughout the year that we have enjoyed sharing with each other, we are both excited to come up with something new that we can make as our own family tradition.

What Led Us To Adoption

We just know that this is right for us. Like many other couples out there, we have had our obstacles with infertility, but that is not where our story ends. We are super excited to be parents and have a home that is filled with love and adventure that we are eager to share that with a little one.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
