Dear Birthmother,

We are Scott and Shilo and we want to thank you for considering adoption. We have always wanted to have children and have tried unsuccessfully for 15 years. We know adoption is the right path for us to complete our family.

We plan to raise your child with the values and beliefs that we live by. You need to treat others with respect no matter their color and to treat everyone the way you would want to be treated. We are both Lutheran in our faith. Scott and his parents are close and he gets to see them daily. His dad loves to teach his grandchildren, nieces and nephews how to build things and fix things.

Going through these last 15 years have been hard, but it has made us closer. We have cried, laughed and cried some more, but know we have each other and can get through anything with each other by their side. Our love for children and desire to have a family of our own is what lead us to adoption.

We look forward to the day of walking through the door and hearing the laughter of the little ones.

About Us

We have know each other for 17 years and have been married for 15 years. We met in a unconventional way at the time, on the internet. After Scott said "hi", we spent a year getting to know each other on the internet and phone. We finally met in Spokane, Washington.

Shilo was born and raised in Canada and her family still lives there. She is close with her dad and her mother passed away in 2016. We make a point to visit once or twice a year. Shilo earned her Nursing Degree in Canada and had to earn it again when she moved to the US.

Scott grew up in Butterfield, MN. He now works with his dad at the family pump service business. He hopes to one day own the business like his dad. Scott and his parents are close and he gets to see them daily. His dad loves to teach his grandchildren, nieces and nephews how to build things and fix things.

Our Home

We live in a town of 600 people; this is the town Scott grew up in. We are looking forward to raising our kids here. Our neighbors are friendly. Our children will learn about many different things in our town. Butterfield is known for the Threshing Bee and people come from all over to see this. We can't wait to take our kids and enjoy it with them. Our home is one we can grow in to; we cannot wait to hear little feet running around chasing Bella.

Our Extended Family

We love our family and spend as much time with them as we can. Scott is the oldest in his family. He has one sister who has a little boy. Scott works with his dad at the family business. The family business is in Pump Service which Scott’s Grandpa started back in 70’s. Scott’s dad now owns and runs the business and one day maybe Scott will too.

Shilo is the youngest in her family. She has two older brothers, three nieces, two nephews and two great nephews. Shilo was born and raised in Canada. All of her family still live in Canada and we travel to see them once to twice a year. Shilo feels lucky because she may not have blood family here, but has many people she considers family because they have always been there for her in the hardest times and supported her like family would.

Our Family Traditions

Family traditions and spending time with family are so important to us. Now that we have a bigger house, we have taken on the family traditions. We host Thanksgiving and Christmas every year for all of Scott's family, which is 22 people. Shilo is hoping to have her family there to celebrate one day too.

Shilo loves Christmas the most! She loves to decorate the house and collect snowmen. Her dad has always said she got her love for Christmas and decorating from her grandma. During the holidays, we play games, talk, eat and watch TV. The cousins ages 1 to 11 years old will run through the house and have fun. Some might be in the basement with Scott and his dad having Nerf wars, playing air hockey, darts or just watching TV.

During the summertime we will be outside with the kids camping. When we do go back to Canada to see Shilo's family, she always makes sure Scott gets to see a new area, if possible. Before Scott met Shilo he had never left the state of Minnesota.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always wanted children and have not been able to have any. We have always wanted children as we love them. Not being able to have them has left an empty feeling in our hearts. We have great respect for what you are doing.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
