Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for choosing to read our letter and getting to know us. We are Nicolle and Angelo. We appreciate and respect your decision to choose a family for your child. Our love for each other is strong and deep. The two of us are already a happy family, but we have always wanted to share our love with our children. Home and family are at the center of our dreams. After discovering we had fertility issues, we knew adoption was our best choice! Nicolle was adopted by her father when she was 5 years old. We know that love for a child is unconditional and family is defined by the bond of love. Here is our best effort to show you who we are.

About Us

We come from families who believe in hard work, commitment to family and a nurturing home. From the moment our families met one another, there has always been a wonderful connection of shared values and traditions. Both of our families are loving and close. Growing up, we were surrounded by family and friends who guided and supported us. A home full of love, security, joy, and of course, lots of food is what we had and are building in ours.

Angelo and I believe that life is meant to be peaceful and joyful. We have had our share of challenges in our life, but always strive to persevere through them and to enjoy every day to its fullest. One of the best compliments that we get from people who know us is that we are fun-loving, genuine and down-to-earth people. We love nothing better than to be surrounded by family and friends, laughing, chatting, eating, or just having fun. Being with people we love is bliss, but so is being together, just the two of us. Whether we get to go out and see a movie or just go to the grocery store, we truly have fun together. Simple things like a run for frozen yogurt or hanging out at the park, find us at our happiest.

We both love to travel. We took a wonderful trip to Italy and hope to go back someday. Angelo’s family lives in Brazil, so we get to have great vacations, while visiting family. Nicolle is learning Portuguese, with Angelo as her teacher. We will teach our child Portuguese and maybe Italian, too. WE also now share Angelo’s passion for soccer. The World Cup is like a holiday in our house, just as it is in Brazil!

Our Home

Our neighborhood is in a new part of Las Vegas. We live in a small, gated community close to the mountains with a park across the street where children play, neighbors have birthday parties and our association hosts community events. We have a cozy backyard and a bedroom that was long ago set aside for the nursery. We bought our home for its big, open kitchen and great room. Nicolle wanted a kitchen to cook in while being able to spend time with family. Our home is comfortable and welcoming.

Two state parks are nearby, one is a historic, one which has a man-made lake with ducks and geese. Nearby is the Red Rock recreation area full of hiking trails among red rocks and a place we love. There are waterparks, parks with soccer fields and another with tennis courts. Two beautiful new elementary schools are within minutes of our home and Nicolle teaches at one. These are some of the best schools in our city.

We love our neighborhood. It is new and beautiful, with tree-lined streets and nearby shopping centers. Near us is an orchard and farm where you pick your own fruit and vegetables. A larger nearby park hosts farmer's markets, Fourth of July fireworks and family festivals. We love living here and moved here with the plan of raising our child here.

Our Extended Family

Although we grew up in different countries, and even on different continents, it is amazing how similar our families are. Nicolle’s mother was raised in a big, Italian family, so her mother raised her within that culture. Angelo is from Brazil. His father was also Italian and his mother Portuguese and German, so he was raised in the Latin tradition, as well. Both of our families have many uncles, aunts and cousins with a strong Italian background. It is a family tradition to get together almost on a weekly basis and enjoy each other’s company around a big dinner.

Our Family Traditions

There is no season that we enjoy more than Christmas, especially when our two families get to spend it together, since Angelo’s family lives in Brazil. Because the US and Brazil are on different continents and have opposite seasons, it still fascinates Nicolle to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s in summer and even go to the beach. We enjoy big festivities with lots of food and laughter. In the US, we open Christmas gifts in the morning, but in Brazil gifts are opened on Christmas Eve at midnight. We want to share these beautiful traditions with a child.

Holidays always include family and friends. Thanksgiving is celebrated with the big dinner of turkey, sweet potatoes, and pumpkin pie. It truly is a big deal, and in our family, no one goes shopping afterward. We take the day to visit and really enjoy just being together. It’s a tradition in Nicolle’s family to make sugar cookies for Halloween, Christmas and Easter. The kids help with this, sprinkles and all! Of course, pumpkin carving and trick or treating are Halloween traditions for us. Our Brazilian family loves to come for Halloween since they don’t have that holiday there! Kids are the center of all of our celebrations, it’s what makes them so much fun!

What Led Us To Adoption

We yearn for a child in our lives. After unsuccessfully trying to get pregnant for many years, we decided to pursue adoption. For us, having a child and building our family is the most important thing.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
