Dear Birthmother,

We are Michelle and Jesse. Thank you for taking the time to consider us. We admire the hard decision you are making for your child. We have been together for 9 years and live in San Diego, California. Although we have a son from Jesse's prior relationship, we have always desired to have more children. We have not been fortunate enough to conceive our own child, and are hopeful that we will be given the opportunity to adopt a child that we can devote our love and attention towards. We hope to provide a glimpse into who we are and the type of parents we are and will continue to be. We would be blessed and honored to be chosen to raise your baby girl.

About Us

We have been together for 9 years and have been talking about our future together since the beginning of our relationship. We are devoted to our family and enjoy family gatherings and family vacations. One of the things that drew us to each other is how important family is to us.

Michelle grew up in San Diego with her three siblings. Her parents divorced when she was little, but both sides of her family raised her to understand the importance of family. After graduating from San Diego State University, she moved up within her company to become a senior project manager. Michelle loves to play board games and curl up with a good book. She is very close with her family and is always up to try new activities and adventures with them.

Jesse has lived in San Diego for his entire life. He did not have an ideal childhood. He bounced back and forth between various family members, and did not grow up with all of his siblings. At the age of 17, Jesse moved out on his own and started working full time. He has always been a hard worker, and has always done whatever it takes to provide for his family, and those in need. Jesse likes to work on cars, enjoys fishing and watching car shows.

We have a 13 year old son from Jesse’s prior relationship. Adam does not live with us full time, but we have established a fair custody arrangement which allows us to see Adam on a regular schedule, while spending more time with him when he is not in school. Adam has such a big heart and is great with children, as he has shown when he is around his cousins and the children of our close friends. He is an energetic boy who loves playing with LEGO’s, playing basketball, and of course, playing video games.

Our Home

We live in a safe neighborhood in Santee, California. We are right around the corner from a fire station and the elementary and high schools are both within walking distance of our house. We live right behind Santee Lakes and we often walk/ride bikes in and around the lakes. We are within 20 minutes from most of our family. The schools in our area have great ratings in the district, and there are several parks nearby.

We have a four bedroom home with a dedicated room for a nursery. We also have a bonus room that serves as our family room and playroom. We have an enclosed back yard with plenty of space to play, and a decent sized front yard. There are lots of families in our neighborhood with kids and lots of pets.

Our Extended Family

Jesse is close with his sister and his brother. They are always around to help watch Adam and we are also there for them. Adam has grown up with our nephew in his life and we are grateful for the bond they have developed as cousins. We are closer to Michelle’s family. Michelle and her siblings have a close bond. Her sisters are her best friends. Their family bond is what it is because of her father and the importance he instilled on them for the value of family.

We have gatherings several times a month to barbecue, work on special projects around each other’s houses, and to celebrate holidays and birthdays. We also go on a few family trips every year. We always get the family together for birthday celebrations. For Fourth of July, we watch fireworks from our roof. The first Sunday of every month is 'Donut Sunday', which is a spin off from the Friday donut trips Michelle had with her dad when she was younger.

Our Family Traditions

Holidays are very important to our family. They are times that we focus on spending with the family. For Christmas, our family gets together every year to decorate our childhood home for the holidays. Within our home, we always make a weekend of getting our tree, and decorating the inside and outside of the house. On the years we don’t have Adam for Christmas Day, we wake up and celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. This was a tradition Michelle’s mom started when Michelle and her siblings were younger. We always bake Christmas cookies before the holidays. When we can’t make that work for Adam before the holidays, we do it after and bring them to the fire station near our house.

For Thanksgiving, we have recently started hosting the holiday meal at our house. This is a honor that we don’t take lightly and we have worked hard to maintain our family traditions for this holiday. During the summer, we participate in as many summer movies in the park events that we can. This is an awesome event that involves displaying children’s movies on big projectors at various local parks. There is always food and activities before the movie. This is something we look forward to every year and always invite family members and friends to join us. We go to the Halloween store every year to try on costumes, even if Adam is not with us for trick or treating. We also decorate and hide Easter eggs.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always wanted to grow our family, but we struggled with infertility. We had always talked about the possibility of adoption, and knew that this was the way to pursue our dream of expanding our family.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
