Dear Birthmother,

We first want to sincerely thank you. Without you making this selfless act our desire to become parents wouldn't be possible. When we learned we were unable to have a child biologically, our hearts instantly broke into a million pieces. Like most people, we wanted nothing more than to be parents. After the initial heart break, we realized our dream of becoming parents wasn't over and there were other ways to make this possible. At the end of the day, we both long to be parents no matter if that happens biologically or not.

We aren't the richest people, but we are very blessed and want nothing more than to start a family of our own. Both our families support us 100%. If you decide we are the family you feel will be the best parents for your baby, know we promise to love your child with our entire hearts. We promise to raise your baby to love and respect everyone. We promise to teach your baby to treat others who may be less fortunate the same as the most fortunate person in the world. We promise to teach them to work hard at the things they want in life and how to be resilient if at first success isn’t reached.

We promise to raise your baby in a loving, Christian environment. We promise to communicate and explain things in life and not just say because I said so. We promise to give them every opportunity to succeed in life, whether it is a great education, sports, music, dance or art, the possibilities are endless. We promise to encourage them to always be true to themselves. We will find the right buttons to push to make certain your baby flourishes in life and has any and every opportunity to be happy and successful.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story and consider us as part of your adoption plan. We would love to get to know you and grow a positive and healthy relationship with you.

About Us

When we first started dating, Melanie had 3 nieces and 1 nephew. She is the Aunt that has always been involved with the kids and is very close to them. She remembers telling Jesse, if the kids didn't like him they couldn't be together. Jesse won them over right away with very little effort because it was so natural to him. Since then, we have 9 nieces and nephews between us.

We have always known we wanted to be parents. We had such great family experiences growing up and great role models of how parents should be. We know we can give a child a nice, stable, comfortable and loving life. We can't wait for the day we are called mommy and daddy!

We have three fur babies and we spoil them rotten. Casanova is our 8 year old cat, Tanner is our 4 year old silver lab and Maggie is our 1.5 year old black and white boxer. They are truly part of our family.

Jesse enjoys competing in sports and plays competitive softball. He also enjoys watching LSU Tiger games, being outdoors and scuba diving. Melanie loves to spend time with her two best friends. She also enjoys traveling and going on adventures and watching Jesse and her nieces and nephews play sports. In her free time she likes to repurpose old things to make them look new and craft with her Cricut and chalk paint.

Our Home

We live in a small town called Ponchatoula. All around us we have diversity. We are a short drive to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. The biggest thing New Orleans is most famous for is Mardi Gras. New Orleans is also known for its amazing food. There are many festivals throughout the year, which celebrate French, Spanish and African influences on Louisiana culture. In and around us are parks with splash pads for kids, skill building opportunities and team sports. We spend a lot of time at Melanie's parents' house which is 10 minutes away. They have 6 acres of land, a pool, chickens, goats, a donkey, cats, dogs and a golf cart. Melanie's younger nieces and nephews call it a "playground".

Our Extended Family

We both have close-knit families. Melanie has 2 older brothers, 2 sisters-in-law, 4 nieces and 3 nephews. She has always been very close to her nieces and nephews. She claims the title of "favorite Aunt" and is very proud of it! She treats the kids like her own and would literally do anything for them. She has been known to rearrange her schedule to ensure the kids never miss out on something in case one of their parents get stuck at work.

Melanie has a very special bond with her mom. They are best friends. So much so, Melanie had her mom stand up in her wedding as her Matron of Honor. She and her mom often plan special things to do with the kids and make special memories with them.

Jesse has a younger sister, brother-in-law, nephew, and niece. If you didn't know any better you would think Jesse's nephew is his child. His nephew looks identical to him when he was younger, and according to family acts just like Jesse too. Jesse is also very close to the kids. Anytime I visit the kids by myself, they are looking for Uncle Jesse. He goes above and beyond for them. He is for sure the "funcle" (fun uncle)!

Our Family Traditions

Our family traditions and how we spend holidays is pretty simple. For major holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we split our time between both families. Also, during the Christmas season Melanie’s family celebrates Christmas with extended family two weekends in December every year. During the Christmas season, we love traveling around to different places to see lights. We believe in spending time with the ones we love for holidays, but we also want to enjoy the day and not run the roads. For other holidays such as 4th of July, Memorial Day, etc., we are at either parent’s house to BBQ and swim.

In Louisiana, we get a week off for Mardi Gras. Going to parades is a beloved tradition and Mardi Gras is stretched across the entire state. We live close to New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Depending on where you go there are family-oriented parades and then there are adult parades. For family oriented, we go to Metairie which is on the outskirts of New Orleans. Melanie’s dad works for a company that builds stages on the parade route and only employees and family are allowed up. Doing this is always a fun tradition and makes memories for the kids.

A huge tradition in Jesse’s family is LSU football. Jesse started going to LSU football games as a very young toddler. When Jesse and Melanie first started dating, one of their first dates was driving to Wisconsin to watch the LSU opening game. One other fun tradition in Melanie’s family is when her Aunt Mel (whom she is named after) has a “critter fest” every year. Her aunt loves Halloween and has a little fest for her “critters” (all the kiddos in the family and friends). She has been doing this tradition for as long as Melanie can remember.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always felt that we wanted to adopt one day in our future. After learning the chances of never having a child biologically, we decided to pursue adoption sooner than we thought. At the end of the day all we want is to be parents.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
