Megan & Carson In Texas

We grew up in small towns before eventually moving to Dallas for work after college. Megan is from Texarkana, Texas and Carson grew up in Dwight, Illinois. We met over three years ago and quickly fell for one another. After getting married, we realized we wanted to start a family and take the necessary steps to get ready. This led us to the Katy, Texas area where we currently live, which is known for good schools and a community atmosphere.

We own a successful real estate investment company we built from the ground up and feel blessed for everything we have achieved. Our company will allow us to be present parents. We will be the kind of parents who never miss a sports game, graduation or birthday party. While we both believe in the importance of a structured schedule, we also believe in having a fun home. We see ourselves as parents who would have a blast helping our child build a fort or attending a tea party.

We each have many friends who live within 5 miles of us! This is awesome because we constantly feel connected with our friends and often see them multiple times during the week. We know they will spoil any baby in our household! We are also both big into traveling and try to take a trip two times a year. One of our favorite places to visit is Hawaii. We enjoyed our time in Hawaii so much that we plan to make this one of our two trips during whale watching season! We love cuddling with our 2 dogs, Remi and Baxter.

We live in a master-planned community which is in one of the safest parts of Katy, Texas. Our community has a resort style pool, a lazy river, walking trails, a day care, community garden and playgrounds for the families to use. We chose this neighborhood because we have friends in the same community and it is very family-friendly. We live in a 4-bedroom, custom built house, so we have plenty of room to grow into as our future child develops their own hobbies and has friends over. We chose to move to the Katy area for the school district and they are planning to build a new elementary school just down the road from our house.

We are both blessed to be surrounded by family members who support us and always cheer for our happiness. Megan has her parents, three sisters and grandparents who remain active in her life. A holiday tradition from Megan's side is that everyone gets together on Thanksgiving and brings their signature dish. Another tradition is a family reunion that usually takes place in July. While most of her family resides in Texarkana, she has two cousins that live in the Houston area.

Carson has his parents, sister and grandma who remain active in his life. A holiday tradition from Carson's side of the family is that everyone gets together on Christmas to play bingo and share Christmas dinner. While most of his family resides in Illinois, his sister lives in Colorado and his dad lives overseas.

We go out of our way to celebrate every holiday. We start by changing the wreath on our front door and then finish with the decor on the house. We also like to host small gatherings during this time to celebrate friends and family. During Christmas, we go all out. We spend quality time decorating our house with Christmas lights and get our tree up by December 1st. On Christmas Day, we attend church in the morning and finish the day off with volunteering!

We have always felt a stronger connection to adoption than biologically having a child, and we couldn’t imagine a greater love or joy than providing a child with a loving home. We firmly believe blood doesn’t make you family; love does.
