Dear Birthmother,

We cannot imagine the stress and challenges you are facing at this time. First and foremost, we wish you and your child the best regardless, and want you to make the decision that is best for you both. We are Dan and Margaret. After 11 years of marriage, we have been unable to have children of our own. The only time we were pregnant resulted in a miscarriage. Our hope has been to provide a loving home for children and to help them be all they can be, and that an individual such as yourself would be willing to help fulfill this is amazing.

About Us

Dan has lived in San Diego all of his adult life and grew up in Northern California. Margaret actually grew up in Nigeria and moved to Los Angeles when she was 18 years old. Mutual friends introduced us to each other. Nine months later, we tied the knot and appreciate each other more year after year!

Both of us have experience in taking care of children. Dan spent four years working in a residential facility for abused children. He has also volunteered for the children's ministry at a church, taken care of children at a summer day camp and baby-sat.

Margaret lived with a family for years. In exchange for room and board, she would help care for the family's four children, especially the youngest, who had significant health challenges in his first year of life. She has also volunteered at church to do children's ministry and nannied throughout college. She loved caring for children so much that she even took parenting classes. We both love kids!

When we have the opportunity, we do like to travel. Our last big trip was to Canada, which was such a wonderful experience. To us, what made the trip great was being around the people, as is the same with anywhere we go. It brings great memories when trying to communicate with each other and learning their ways. We attend church, enjoy watching movies at home, go on hikes, exercise and entertain guests. Especially with hospitality, we make a great team, as Margaret loves to socialize and entertain the guests in conversation, while Dan is in the kitchen preparing the dishes. Dan enjoys cooking. He aspires to cook many types of food and always enjoys branching out. He has a lot of fun making fusion dishes, such as a Mediterranean pizza or a chicken enchilada omelet.

Our Home

We currently live in a three bedroom/two bathroom house in the northern part of San Diego. We have a small-to-medium size backyard, as well. Our neighborhood is in a safe area that is fairly ethnically diverse, but is a primarily Caucasian and Latino community. There are parks nearby, as well as a good school district. Currently, in our house, we have the master bedroom, the second room is an office and the third is a guest room. One of these rooms will obviously become a room for the child(ren).

Our Extended Family

One of the biggest staples of our family is the diversity we have. Even our wedding party alone was diverse. We had a white groom, a black bride, a Filipino best man and a Chinese maid of honor. We thrive on having people from different cultures and backgrounds in our lives and building meaningful relationships with them, as we believe each culture has something valuable to offer.

The church is also a significant part of our lives. This is also how we have gotten the privilege to build relationships with such amazing people, as well as others whom we would not have met any other way. As a fun side note, we have even had a few people from abroad, including Japan and Brazil, stay with us temporarily. This certainly created some fond memories.

Our Family Traditions

What Led Us To Adoption

We have been married for over 11 years. During this time, we have attempted to have our own children and have not been successful. We believe we have a lot that we can share and pass on to the next generation, have a lot of love to give, and would love to have the opportunity.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
