Dear Birthmother,

HELLO & THANK YOU! We truly appreciate you considering us as loving, adoptive parents for your child. Our names are Ken and Elise and we live in Scottsdale, Arizona. We took the first step in creating a family in 2013, when we got married and have cherished every moment together since. We talked about having biological children, but Elise was subsequently diagnosed with a chronic autoimmune disease. While manageable and not life threatening, the medication needed limited our ability to have biological children. Our desire to be parents has never wavered, which has led us here.

About Us

We are both from Eugene, Oregon where our childhood homes were just blocks from one another. Our paths crossed on occasion and our upbringings had many similarities. We were both raised in loving and supportive families with two siblings.

It wasn't until a mutual friend invited us to a social gathering where we really got to know each other and "officially" met. The rest is history. We got married in 2013 and call Arizona home. We enjoy experiencing all that Arizona has to offer, like hiking, visiting museums, exploring the food scene and soaking up the sunshine poolside in our backyard.

We have cherished our relationship and enjoyed our time together by traveling to places like Belize and Sweden, spending time with friends and family and working together to establish a solid foundation for our future family.

Our Home

We live in a spacious 4-bedroom, 2-bath home that has plenty of space for a child. We live at the end of a cul-de-sac in Scottsdale, AZ. Our home is in a highly rated school district. Several parks are within walking distance from our home, all of which feature play structures and open fields for various activities.

The Phoenix Zoo, Desert Botanical Gardens, the Musical Instrument Museum and Old Town Scottsdale all contribute to the family fun arts and culture scene within our area. We enjoy venturing over to Roadrunner Park to visit the Saturday Market, walk around the pond with the dogs to watch the ducks and take in all the day's youth sporting events and activities.

Our Extended Family

We have always been family oriented, which is part of the reason we were drawn to one another. Elise is the oldest of three girls. Her parents instilled in them a passion for travel and as adults, they have lived all over the country and world. However, distance has never separated them from remaining very close-knit.

Ken is the middle of three boys. His parent's divorced when they were young, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. His family grew by 4 step siblings. Special occasions are now joyously chaotic!

Ken's grandfathers have passed away, but they remain very special to him. He reflects fondly on their time together. From his maternal grandfather taking him to his baseball games and shouting pointers from the stands or his paternal grandfather teaching him how to play cribbage. We look forward to our adoptive child being able to develop their own memories with their grandparent.

Our Family Traditions

Currently, Elise’s godparents (who are also her aunt and uncle) live only a few miles away. Their children, who are Elise’s cousins and their families also live nearby. This is fortunate since it still allows for family gatherings during the holidays and other times of the year.

Speaking of holidays, they have always been hugely celebrated in Elise’s family. My parents’ house has served as the central gathering spot for any family event or holiday. This is a sentiment I have carried with me as an adult.

My favorite holiday memories are going on a scavenger hunt for our Easter baskets (a tradition my dad still does for us even as adults) and waking up early Christmas morning and discovering what Santa left us in our stockings. I would love nothing more than to share the joy of the holidays with a child in our home.

What Led Us To Adoption

We had aspired to have our own biological children but due to our personal situation,
which included a diagnosis of a life-long autoimmune disease, prevented us from having
our own biological children. While manageable and not life threatening, the medication
needed limited our ability to have biological children. Our desire to be parents never
wavered which has led us to adoption and the hope of achieving the family we envisioned.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
