Dear Birthmother,

Steve and I want to start off by thanking you for being so selfless and brave by choosing adoption. We have a biological daughter who we love dearly and is the most amazing and important thing to us. We would love to become parents again and give her a sibling(s) along with making our family complete. We can promise to love this child to the fullest and provide a safe, loving and supportive home. Family is very important to us and we cannot wait to expand our already tight-knit family. Thank you for considering us to be mommy and daddy to your little baby.

About Us

Our daughter, Hattie is two and is the light of our lives and also keeps us on our toes. We spend most of our days and nights coloring, reading, learning numbers and ABCs and playing outside. Steve takes her to a father/daughter gymnastics class during the week, which she loves. Steve is a maintenance mechanic at John Deere and Kahla works from home for a medical supply company. We are lucky that our schedules allow us to keep our daughter at home most of the day.
Steve enjoys playing pool, working on motorcycles, and working out in his free time. Kahla enjoys reading and watching reality TV. We also spend a lot of time with our families having sleepovers, bonfires, movie and game nights and family dinners. In the summer, we enjoy swimming and playing ball. In the winter, we like to sled and cook. We also like traveling to various states around the US to visit relatives and vacation.

Our Home

We moved into our home 2.5 years ago after a year of construction. It was stressful at times, as Steve was working full time, along with building our house, but now we have our dream home. The following summer, we added a garage and privacy fence and finished the basement, which is one of our favorite parts of the house. We added a projection screen, a pool table and a dart board, along with tons of space for the kids to jump on the mini trampoline and run and play. We completed a fenced in patio this past summer and plan to put up a large pool next year.
Our home has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We live on a quiet street in a diverse, middle class neighborhood. Kahla's parents live five houses away and we are hoping her sister and nephews move next door in the spring. We live close to the grade school,  junior high and several parks. We are also near shopping, movies, a river ampitheatre and a trampoline park.

Our Extended Family

We have a great family dynamic on both sides of the family. Kahla's parents have been married for 45 years and both of her grandmothers are still living. Kahla also has a sister who has two sons. Her and her sister have a bond that can't be broken and her boys are the lights of our lives. Kahla's parents live only 5 houses away and we are extremely close with them. Kahla has wonderful childhood memories and the most supportive parents she could ever ask for.

Steve has 1 brother and 3 sisters. His parents are no longer married, but remain great friends. His grandmother and grandfather on one side are still alive and we spend as much time with them as possible. Hattie has a special relationship with Steve's dad, which we love to watch. Steve's mom lives out of state, but we have a great relationship with her and she stays with us for weeks at a time when she visits. Hattie and her Facetime often love each other to pieces.

Our Family Traditions

We are so very family oriented that most of our time outside of working is spent as us being a family or with our parents and siblings.  We enjoy spending time outdoors playing basketball, playing with sidewalk chalk and taking wagon rides.  We do a lot of backyard bonfires, when the weather permits. We also love to take day trips and weekend trips to Des Moines, Chicago, or Minneapolis.  Last summer we took a long drive and drove out to Colorado to visit family. We also  just returned from a family trip to Florida, which was a lot of fun.

We like to have family and friends over to watch sports on our projection screen in the basement.  We are Chicago Cubs and Bears fans and we support the Iowa State Cyclones, as Kahla is an alumni. Our nephew is into playing soccer and we spent a lot of time this summer supporting him and traveling to his games. We try to make it to every event our daughter and nephews are in. Our daughter is also in a daddy/daughter class that she really enjoys and is pretty impressive at for a 2 year old. She is also starting to show an interest in cooking so we have been letting her help with simple things in the kitchen.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have one biological daughter and really wanted to have another child to complete our family and give our daughter a sibling. We've chosen adoption because we wanted to give a child a loving, stable and supportive home that they may otherwise not have had, along with opportunties to be involved with activities, travel and college. We have a great family and extended families on both sides and want to let a child experience the love we all have for each other.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
