Dear Birthmother,

We can't thank you enough for considering us as potential parents to your baby. We are JT & Lynne and our story started back in 2003 on a small lake in Minnesota.

Once we decided we were ready for children, we struggled with fertility issues for 4 long years until we were blessed with our son, Jack. Jack is now 2 and we feel it is the right time for him to have a brother or sister!

Growing up with siblings, we both know what an amazing gift and experience that is. We can't wait to create family memories as a foursome and watch Jack and his sibling grow up together.

About Us

We met when JT's cousin, who happened to be Lynne's college roommate, was getting married in Minnesota. After spending a fun-filled week together, we went our separate ways. Three months later, Lynne decided to take a chance on JT and moved to San Diego. Here we are 16 years later still in love and enjoying life together.

While dating, we spent a lot of time being active. We both belonged to a triathalon club and ran several races a year. We enjoy watching action movies together, as long as they are under 2 hours for Lynne!

We like to go on small road trips and think it would be fun to someday rent an RV and do it right. We went to Yellowstone a few years ago. It was so beautiful and the animal sightings were amazing. We've also been to the Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree. We'd also like to visit Yosemite, but that requires planning a whole year in advance!

Our son Jack is almost 3 and is so much fun. The toddler phase is amazing, he’s so curious and happy all the time. He loves going on adventures, even if it’s only to the store to buy some milk. He recently has become very excited about swimming and continually asks to go to the beach. Probably equal to water, he loves playing with his toy trucks in the dirt and rocks.

We know Jack is going to be so excited to have a little brother or sister. Every time he hears a baby cry or coo, he turns his head to see where the baby is and then points while screaming “baby!” with a big smile and wide eyes.

Our Home

Our house has 3 bedrooms plus an office, and 3 bathrooms. We are excited about setting up the third bedroom as a nursery! Our kitchen, dining and living room are combined as one big room with a huge glass door that opens up into the backyard. Sometime in the next year or two, we dream of building a patio off of the living room so that when the glass doors are open it will feel like one big space, indoor & outdoor. Our backyard is a nice size, great for running through sprinklers, kicking a ball around, or rolling down roller coasters!

We moved to a new home and neighborhood in the Summer of 2018. We wanted something with a little more space and with other families around. We found a great little home nestled in a quiet family-friendly neighborhood that is still central to the wonderful things San Diego has to offer. We are right next to a canyon with great hiking trails that we take advantage of every weekend. There is also a playground and nature center just a short walk down the trail. A couple of miles away is the San Diego Bay where there are more playgrounds, walking trails, swimming and water sports.

Our Extended Family

Lynne has an older sister and a younger brother, both are married with kids. Her brother has three kids ages 3,5,6 and her sister has one age 10, so lots of young cousins to play with! Her parents and brother and sister live in the same state about an hour away from each other. We are the only ones that needs to hop on a plane to see them! Despite the distance, we see each other at least once a year. Sometimes we’ll go up for holidays but we actually prefer to visit in early fall when the leaves have turned colors and it’s a bit cooler, it’s beautiful around that time of year.

JT is the oldest of two brothers. His brother Mike has 3 kids and are very busy. His parents and brother’s family live in San Diego, so we see them more often. A big part of JT’s childhood was growing up in a Navy family. His father was a Navy Officer for over 30 years. His father is the oldest of 6 siblings and his mother the youngest of 6 siblings, so he has a lot of cousins! JT’s family is full of engineers; his dad, his brother, his brother’s wife and Lynne too!

Our Family Traditions

Christmas time is a favorite in our house and it is really exciting that this is the first year Jack is beginning to understand the magic of the holidays! The advent calendar, the songs, baking cookies, decorating the house, decorating the tree, singing carols with neighbors, reading stories, believing in Santa, sipping hot cocoa and spending time with family is what it is all about. Most of JT’s side of the family visit for the holidays and the week of Christmas can get a little crazy with 25+ people hanging out. It is a lot of fun!

One of our favorite places in the world is JT's family lake house in Minnesota. We try to get to the cabin every other summer. We can't wait to carry on this tradition and create new ones as a family of four.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always wanted children; however, when we started “trying” on our honeymoon, nothing came of it. We went to see some specialists and were told it would be difficult, but possible to have children so we kept trying for a few years. After almost 4 years, Lynne got pregnant and Jack joined our family 9 months later. Now that Jack is a toddler, we would love to expand our family to four through adoption. Both of us grew up with siblings and know the amazing gifts that come with that. We would love nothing more for Jack and another child to experience that gift.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
