Jessica & Dustin In California

Our journey started when a mutual friend who Dustin worked with set us up on a date. The rest is history because it was love at first sight. We are best friends on every level. A funny story about our engagement was Jessica proposed and of course Dustin was not surprised. We had a short engagement and got married a few weeks later. We both knew that we were each other's person.

Jessica grew up in a small country town in California that is full of agriculture, farms, farmers markets and where you know everyone. She grew up in an adoptive home after being in foster care. She was very active in 4-H and FFA raising dairy goats. Jessica has a passion for gardening and growing vegetables and peppers for her family to enjoy. They now live only a few miles from her beautiful hometown. Jessica owns a well-known clothing boutique.

Dustin grew up in a small fishing town on the coast of California. He has one older brother with one niece who live less than two hours away. His parents have been married for over thirty years and to this day live in the same house that Dustin grew up in. Dustin is a full time Fire Captain at one of the local fire stations, as well as a practicing Paramedic. Over the years he has developed an interest in carpentry and loves to pass on all knowledge of the trades that he can to our son, Quincy.

There are so many amazing things to know about the future big brother to be. Quincy is one of the kindest souls you will ever meet. He loves music, dancing and singing. He still builds amazing things with his Legos and has such a brilliant imagination. He can't wait for you to pick us, so that he can tell everyone he is going to be a big brother.

We live in a two-story home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on a half-acre of property. There is plenty of room to grow and play on the property and the neighborhood is very child-friendly, with many of the families around us having young children.

Our home is walking distance from a very child-friendly park, as well as a gorgeous fishing lake and the county fairgrounds. Local schools are about five minutes driving distance and the families in our area all enjoy getting together for barbeques and get togethers.

We love the holidays in our home. Dustin is always ready to hang the Christmas lights right after Thanksgiving and Jessica is ready to watch Hocus Pocus as soon as October comes around. Dustin's brother Steve and our niece Maddie usually come and stay for the holidays and help us celebrate.

The newest tradition is a Halloween party where we decorate the whole yard and enter the decorating competitions. We have not won yet, but we have hope! Depending on Dustin’s work schedule we celebrate holidays at home or at the fire station with his co-workers, so that we get to be a family.

We absolutely love spending time at the lake very close to where we live. Boat days are a must for our family. We love being on the water and also enjoy taking kayaks out to the natural spring located in our area and fishing early in the morning.

With Dustin's sometimes crazy work schedule in the fire service as a Fire Captain, we squeeze vacations in year round as our schedules allow. We enjoy driving to Reno for the snow or just for the cabanas in the summer. Dustin loves skiing so we frequent the snow as Quincy learns to ski or snowboard.

We enjoy spending time as a family at home with our animals. Frequent barbecues and spending time outside around the fire table, while listening to music is very common. We are big on family game nights ranging from Just Dance in the living room to Phase 10 around the dining room table.

We have wanted to grow our family for years and naturally and have been unsuccessful. Jessica was adopted and it became a discussion as a family. We know that we can and want to provide a loving home for a child.
