Dear Birthmother,

Thank you for taking the time to review our profile and consider us as adoptive parents of your child. Our names are Dorsi & Cameron and we greatly appreciate the care you take in selecting someone to love and provide for your baby. We have had the desire to adopt for the last few years because we come from a large, welcoming blended family that believes in compassion and unity. We don’t see adoption as a last resort for having children. We view all people as part of one community and wish to adopt because we believe in supporting each other to do what’s best for us as individuals, as well as a whole, and want to help provide the loving environment you expect for your child.

About Us

Dorsi grew up in a multi-cultural home where diversity was celebrated. She was born and raised in Marin, CA. She places great importance on education. She
grew up swimming in the brisk ocean at Stinson Beach and getting lost on Mt. Tam among the towering Redwoods. She was involved in all kinds of sports and outdoor activities as a child and still loves being outdoors and have a strong connection to nature. She graduated from New York University with a BA in Cultural Anthropology & Documentary Studies. She enjoys visiting family in Sun Valley, Idaho, to fish and ski, as well as hiking the Marin wilderness. She is a foodie to the core and you can often find her meandering through the farmer’s markets to find the freshest local produce. She spends a lot of time cooking, reading and thinking about food, and believes that eating habits and nutrition have an enormous effect on our moods and general well-being.

Cameron believes in truth, fairness and equality. He was also born in Marin and graduated with a BA in English Literature and Film Theory from Colorado College. Growing up, he participated in various sports, which he strongly believes helps teach life lessons and contributes to the development of social skills, producing a more well-rounded individual. He believes in treating others how you want to be treated, even if they don't share your values. He strives to live in a manner that limits his impact on the other living things with which we share this planet. In his free time, he plays baseball with a local fast-pitch league and volunteers with an environmental non-profit organization.

Our Home

Our home is a small, bungalow-style 3 bed/ 2 bath house that was Cameron's grandmother's until she passed away, after which we bought the house from the estate. It has a beautifully landscaped backyard, garden with raised planter beds, pergola, raised deck with BBQ area and dugout brick fire pit area with small water feature.

Our neighborhood is very child-friendly, with children playing outside on our street every day. For Halloween and Christmas, the entire block gets shut down for festivities, including trick-or-treating and 2 haunted houses during Halloween and light shows, live music and sleigh rides for Christmastime. There is a grade school, field and park within walking distance. There is also an easily-accessible bike path nearby. The Bay Area as a whole is incredibly diverse with plenty of culturally inclusive activities.

Our Extended Family

Dorsi is named after her Swiss-German grandfather who taught her to be patient, kind and appreciative of everything the earth provides. Her father and older brother are Civil Rights attorneys. The family motto has always been, “If you want peace, work for justice.” They believe everyone can help humankind in their own way with their given skill set. Her father was also involved in the Civil Rights Movement as the President of the Selma chapter of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee.

Dorsi’s mother grew up in Ellensburg, Washington on a cattle ranch in a valley surrounded by beautiful mountains. Her grandparents were some of the first settlers to make their way across the United States and settle in that valley. Growing up she would visit her relatives in the area and learn about farming, gardening, cooking, canning, hunting, fishing and developing an appreciation for nature. Her mother currently lives close to the land in majestic Sun Valley, Idaho.

Cameron can trace his roots to the San Francisco Bay Area back to the late 1800's. His great-great grandfather operated a furniture company, A. J. Forbes & Son, which built some of the earliest examples of furniture in the Arts & Crafts movement. Cameron’s father also participated in the civil rights movement during the late 60s and early 70s as a member of Students for a Democratic Society, which sought to fight racism and support workers'struggles and strikes. Cameron works for his family’s business, which owns and manages five properties, as well as develops single-family, residential homes.

Our Family Traditions

Celebrating the holidays together as a family is so important to us. We are so lucky that most of our family members live locally. Both of our families celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas. We spend Christmas Eve with Dorsi's family. On Christmas morning, Dorsi goes to her dad's and Cameron to his parents'. We spend the rest of Christmas day with Cameron's family at his parents' house. The week after Christmas, we get together with Dorsi's brother and his family and Dorsi's sister for a second Christmas.

For Thanksgiving, we usually try to get out of town for a couple nights. We pick a new city each year that is within driving distance and spend Thanksgiving weekend just the two of us. However, when our child is old enough, we plan to spend Thanksgiving with Dorsi's mom and her family who live in Idaho. Halloween is a big deal in our neighborhood, so we invite both our families over to our house and Dorsi makes themed appetizers for everyone. On 4th of July, we spend time in the yard, smoking ribs all day and gardening together.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have had the desire to adopt for the last few years because we come from a large, welcoming blended family that believes in compassion and unity. We don’t see adoption as a last resort for having children, but rather our first choice. We view all people as part of one community and wish to adopt because we believe in supporting each other to do what’s best for us as individuals, as well as a whole.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
