Dear Birthmother,

First and foremost, I want to thank you for taking the time to consider adoption for your child. Whether you find me as a good fit or not, taking a leap into something as hard as making this choice is something to hold reverently. It takes so much bravery to make a decision that requires so much selfless love. Second, thank you for taking the time to read and look into my profile. I hope you like what you find!

My name is Dea and I have been led into adopting by my life long wish to be a mom. This has always been a dream of mine and as I get older I am ready to fill the place in my heart that longs to love and care for a child. I have spent hours upon hours of creating relationships with the little ones who I teach and as I let them go year after year, I can only imagine what it would be like to care for one of my own. I am ready to make that dream a reality and share the abundance of love that I have in my heart. Thank you again for reading my information and considering me as a fit for such a precious gift.

About Me

Screenshot

Hello! I am a wear your heart on your sleeve, love with no conditions, coffee and sunshine loving human who goes by the name of Dea. I am a little bit introvert and a little bit extrovert who loves exploration and travels, but also loves to sit and read a good book or dive into a creative hobby. I have an instinctual need to help or care for others, so naturally I end up drawn to opportunities that involve such things.

I love connections and deep conversations, but let’s face it—I may just like talking in general! This comes into play in an important way given my career as a Speech Language Pathologist (official name for Speech Therapist). I decided to pursue my Master’s degree in this area after 5 years of teaching beautiful little 3rd grade souls. I loved teaching and I love my students, but decided to expand my career in this way so that I could really focus in on making a difference in the lives of adults and children who are having a hard time and need the extra help. I really enjoy my job! Walking into work each day brings new challenges, but also new joys in so many ways.

My favorite place to be is with my favorite people, no matter where we are and what we are doing. I am the happiest in the presence of good company. I consider myself very blessed to have an inner circle of close friends who I get the honor to do life with, but also a wider circle of people who I have the privilege of calling friends and learning and growing in friendship with them as well. My friends and I fall into conversation and laughter easily, support each other and show up. My friends are a constant reminder of all the good in the world.

I have a wide range of things that I enjoy doing in my free time. I love things that involve an aspect of challenge and creativity – such as digital scrapbooking, crocheting, designing signs or home décor, making jewelry. My friend and I have just started learning watercolor painting. I also love a good book, a new adventure and capturing images with the art of photography. I do enjoy riding 4-wheelers as well as riding my horse. On the less active side, I love a good movie or game night and can always find myself content around a bonfire.

My Home

My home is a traditional, two-story home with a fenced in backyard. I am nestled in the perfect space between the busy town streets and the long country roads. I have neighbors on either side of me who are the most caring people you’ll meet. They share vegetables from their garden, cake from their kitchen and have been seen a time or two mowing my lawn or shoveling my drive just out of the kindness of their hearts. My neighbors are also great about checking in and making sure that I am safe. They have even brought me medicine when I was sick!

My home is also in a good location because it is near 3 parks, a swimming pool, a splash pad, bike path, nature center and is only a small drive away from towns with even more exciting things to offer. I am close to multiple libraries that engage highly with the community and offer all sorts of programs for people of all ages. The small town feel of my home offers a fun community aspect, where town festivals, football games and school community nights are a great way to connect with many different people. My people in my community will embrace you and ensure you feel at home in our town. The schools in my town do the same – unfolding with that community feel where you really see others looking out for each other. This type of community draws you in and makes you feel like you belong.

The future nursery is a medium sized bedroom that will be filled with lots of love. The staple in the nursery will be the bookshelf, full of books that baby and I can read together any time of day. The room will be painted soft colors and decorated with love. Decorations given lovingly by family and friends already awaiting to meet baby will adorn the walls and shelves.

My Extended Family

My family situation is one that I know I am blessed to have. My parents are still together after almost 40 years of marriage. I have a solid and ever-growing relationship with my parents, as well as with my younger brother and sister. My parents lead the way in instilling values in us where others come first and kindness is key. In this, my family members and I wear our hearts on our sleeves and devote ourselves to lifting others up. We are often called hard workers who also have a friendly way about us. People seem drawn to us when they need some extra encouragement or help.

My immediate family and I live around 3 hours from my extended family. We bridge that gap often by keeping in touch and when we can visit, we make it meaningful with activities and conversations that make it seem like we are never apart. Although being so far away from extended family isn’t ideal, I think that part of my life has allowed me and my family to become closer knit. Growing up, we relied more on each other which allowed us to strengthen our family bond more. What grew even further from this was the fact that my family created more “family” out of the friends we surrounded ourselves with.

Growing up with my family creating “family” out of friends is something I always held dear. What a blessing to have people who have chosen to be that close to me and invest in my life in a way family does. This is something I took with me as I grew into adulthood.

My Family Traditions

Holidays are all the more special with the family that I have, and the family that has been built into my life. I get the joy of participating in many different traditions all times of the year. From apple picking and pumpkin patches in the fall to cooking, baking, Christmas light tours and gift exchanges at Christmas, leading into Easter outfit shopping and picnics in the park, we find many bonding moments during the holidays. What is even more special are the "just because" traditions we have in our everyday life - the movie and snack nights, game nights, pool days, and day adventures to someplace new. I truly love being with the people I love and building memories.

What Led Me To Adoption

I’ve been led to adopt because I’ve always had that dream to be a mom and I’m ready to make it happen. I feel that I have a lot of love to give to a child and I’ve been waiting years to begin pouring into one.
