Dear Birthmother,

We are so grateful that you have allowed us the amazing opportunity to present our profile to you! We know that it takes a tremendous amount of courage to open yourself to the path of adoption. We cannot imagine how emotionally challenging and difficult the decision must be. Our hearts are so full of love and we are excited to connect with you. We would be honored to have a chance to love, care for and cherish your little one!

We want to start with gratitude for your willingness to learn about our family. We know this isn't an easy process, and we hope you can feel our love and support through this letter. We are so honored and humbled for this opportunity to connect with you!

We are Shawna and David. We live in the beautiful Evergreen state of Washington with our 11 year old Siberian Husky, Sedona, and our 18 year old cat, Smokey. We met in 2014 and married in 2016. We are a family that loves adventures, but also enjoys quiet nights in. We love spending quality time together and with our family and friends. As individuals and as a couple, we have had our fair share of trials and tribulations throughout our lives. We initially planned on having biological children first, but after having multiple miscarriages and unsuccessful fertility treatments we made the decision to pursue adoption. We are extremely excited to tell you all about us and begin this new chapter with you!

About Us

We met in 2014 and were inseparable after our first date! We knew we had found something special. After 2 years of dating, we planned our destination wedding and were married in May 2016 on the beach in the Riviera Maya in Mexico. Shortly after getting married, Shawna had a job opportunity that involved relocating to Hawaii. We spent 3 sun-filled years in the Aloha state. Shawna's work brought us back to Washington where we currently live in a small mining town in the suburbs outside of Seattle.

As we have settled into our blissful married life, we have found that we have many things we enjoy doing together. We love to go on vacations, cook together, do yard work, go to the lake down the road for an afternoon of paddle boarding and have fun with our friends and family.

David was born in Vermont. He went on to attend the University of Idaho and obtain a B.S. in Anthropology and traveled around for years to many archeological sites. David now works for the US Department of Veteran affairs in Administration. David enjoys playing basketball and watching sports. Football is his favorite!

Shawna was born in Idaho and moved all around the Pacific Northwest while she was growing up. She attended college in a small town in Eastern Washington and obtained a degree in General Management with a minor in Spanish. Shawna has been with her company for 19 years and is currently a District Manager of Pharmacy and Retail Operation for a fortune 500 company. She is an avid baker and loves to decorate for whatever the season is!

We have an 18 year old black cat, Smokey and a 11 year old Siberian Husky, Sedona. Smokey is the sweetest little old man kitty. Shawna adopted him when he was 4 weeks old. He wants to be pet and cuddled by everyone! Sedona is so sweet and gentle. Shawna adopted her at 8 weeks. She loves her routine of going for our daily walk and getting plenty of treats.

Our Home

We own a newly built 5 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom, 2 story home in a beautiful community with views of Mt. Rainier that can be seen daily! Our home is spacious yet homey. We have a large loft upstairs off the master where there is all kinds of fun to be had. All children will be able to have their own room. The nursery has a ton of natural light with a walk-in closet. We are in an awesome school district and there is an elementary school being built right down the street.

Families come in all shapes and sizes in our community. Our city was founded by immigrants from all over the world who came to this picturesque city in the foothills to mine an abundance of coal. Our development has won several awards for best master planned community and best community events. We have monthly events in our community such as Easter Egg Hunts, Craft fairs, Hometown Holiday events, Valentine Market, Blood Drives, Red, White & Boom! and not to mention, weekly food trucks!!!

Our Extended Family

We are blessed to have close relationships with our extended families. We travel to see each other every opportunity we can. Shawna's parents, Tom and Judy, live in Fort Worth, Texas. They have been married for almost 50 years! They frequently come to visit over the holiday season as well as the summer. Her brother Mark, and his wife Terri, also live in Texas with our nephew, Alex. We plan yearly family vacations so that we can spend time together and reconnect. We recently went on an Alaskan cruise and had a blast!

The majority of David's family live an hour and a half away. His mother lives in Port Angeles, WA, along with his sister Liz, her husband Alex and two daughters, Maeve and Elsie. We get together with them as often as we can! His other sister, Laney recently moved to Arizona but we keep in touch and see her during holidays or when we plan something together. We are planning to take a family trip soon!

Our Family Traditions

We absolutely love celebrating all holidays! Shawna enjoys decorating both indoor and outdoor. Our traditions include going to the pumpkin patch every year to select our pumpkins that we carve. We even managed to find a real pumpkin patch in Hawaii! David’s birthday falls on Halloween so we go all out! We enjoy going to haunted houses as well. We have received letters from neighbors telling us how much they enjoy our Halloween decorations.
Christmas can be quite the production! We have several storage totes filled with Christmas decorations. Christmas now includes decorating 2 trees! Our friends and family enjoy coming over to look at everything outside and in. Our nephew in Texas likes to facetime so we can show him all of the fun decor!

What Led Us To Adoption

We really want to grow our family! We initially planned on having biological children first, but after having multiple miscarriages and unsuccessful fertility treatments we made the decision to pursue adoption. We have the time, family support and financial means to be able to provide anything a child may want or need!
