Dear Birthmother,

We really look forward to meeting you! We are Chris and Alisha from Lafayette, LA. We’re so grateful that our paths have crossed and look forward to becoming family with you and yours. We think that you’re courageous for pursuing adoption and sincerely hope that you’d like us to be a part of that journey. We know that everything happens for a reason, and we have whole faith we are meant to adopt. We have so much love in our hearts to give to a baby and look forward to growing our family with a new addition through the miracle of adoption.

About Us

We were both born and raised in Southern Louisiana and were blessed enough to meet each other through mutual friends in 2011. After dating for about a year and a half, we got married in 2013. We are both previously divorced and came to realize that not everyone gets it right the first time. Fortunately, we found each other and have been enjoying an amazing marriage ever since. We have one daughter, Emma Grace, who is 15 years old and a sophomore in high school. She is super sweet and extraordinarily eager to have a baby brother or sister.

Chris is the President/CEO of our local Better Business Bureau chapter and Alisha is a state licensed Nursing Facility Administrator at a local nursing home and rehabilitation center. We both have a passion for helping others, which is what led us to our careers.

The three of us are football fans and season ticket holders. We love hanging out in the city of New Orleans and attending the games. We have been to Mexico, Chicago, Washington DC, New York, California, and even to Paris, France to celebrate Emma's progress in the French Immersion program. We are always eager for an adventure and love exploring together!

Our Home

We really enjoy living is south Louisiana. There are many festivals, parades and local community activities throughout the year that we enjoy. The Cajun culture of the Acadiana area in which we live is one that is hospitable, friendly and rich in traditions. Our home is situated in a quiet, family friendly neighborhood with no thru-traffic just to the outskirts of the city of Lafayette, LA but still very close to many things. There are hospitals, daycares, grocery stores, schools, a skating rink and shopping mall all within two miles of our home.

Our home itself is a brick foundation two-story home that we built 6 years ago. It has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms with almost 3,000 square feet. We have an open floor plan down stairs with a large living room, kitchen and formal dining room which allows us to easily have friends and family over to enjoy some true southern Cajun cooking and conversation. Upstairs, we have an open room that we use as an additional living room and play room. We eagerly look forward to being able to decorate and setup a baby nursery in one of the upstairs bedrooms. Our backyard is completely fenced with a lot of green grass for playing and large covered patio for relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.

Our local school system is very highly rated and sought after. There are a lot of specialty programs including many different options for language immersion, gifted and talented, STEM, Montessori, etc. South Louisiana’s weather is very conducive to being outside, so parks and playgrounds are plentiful around here. Nearby, there is a park with an inclusive play area and splash pad as well as a pond with several ducks to feed. The three of us love to ride our bikes there and spend the day soaking up some sunshine and family time.

Our Extended Family

Chris was born and raised in Youngsville, LA, right outside of Lafayette and Alisha was born and raised in Scott, LA, also right outside of Lafayette. Both of our families and siblings all still live right here in town within miles of our home. Chris has a mother, father, brother and sister and Alisha has a mother, father, brother and two sisters. Alisha’s sister and brother-in-law have been foster parents for several years, so we have been opening our hearts and homes to additional babies for quite some time, with the whole family eager to shower them with lots of love and attention.

Our Family Traditions

With Christmas being both of our favorite holiday, and Christmas Eve also being Chris’s birthday, we do it big in our families. The three of us enjoy setting up our elaborate Christmas village scene with working train in the dining room. We decorate the Christmas tree together, and line up our nutcracker and toy soldier collections around the foyer. We host an early morning pajama breakfast with all of Alisha’s family, then join all of Chris’s family for supper after church. It is such a heartwarming day with everyone we love.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have struggled with infertility for the past 7 years, which included an expensive, emotionally draining and unsuccessful round of IVF in 2018. This journey through infertility has opened our eyes to the world of adoption. We know that everything happens for a reason, and we have whole faith we are meant to adopt.

I adopted our son as a newborn after going through 12 years of infertility. Now, 23 years later, I am director at Everlasting Adoptions. Shortly after adopting our son, I started to feel a calling towards adoption. My career as a Human Resource Manager in Corporate America came to an end, and I entered what I now know is my purpose and passion in life — building families through the miracle of adoption.

Working with birthmothers and adoptive parents throughout the US for over 20 years has allowed me to utilize the skills I have been blessed with to serve others. I come to work every day not as a staff member coming to a job from 9 to 5, but as a person who is extremely dedicated and devoted to helping people like you every single day. I feel very blessed to have found my purpose, and I look forward to helping you with your adoption needs!
